Moss, born February 13, 1977, is an ex-American football player. He was an
American footballer who played for 14 seasons within the National Football
League (NFL) as well as with the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders as well
as the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. He is widely regarded as the
best wide receiver of all time, together with Jerry Rice, he holds the NFL
single-season record for touchdown receptions (23 in 2007) in addition to the
NFL single-season touchdown reception record for rookies (17 in 1998) and is
second on the NFL all-time regular season touchdown list, with 156. Moss was
well-known for his skills in securing a the contested catch, and
"mossed" is nowadays a football term. He began his career as a studio
analyst for ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown and Tuesday Night Countdown shows. Moss
was born in Rand, West Virginia. He attended DuPont High School. It was one of
two schools which was later amalgamated into Riverside High School. There Moss
excelled in football, basketball tracks, and many other sports. Randy was also
a member of the school's debating club. Moss helped lead the DuPont Panthers
football team to two consecutive state championships in 1992, 1993. His primary
position was wide receiver. However, Moss also played safety for free as well
as punted kickoffs and was the team's punter as well as kicker. He was awarded
the Kennedy Award for West Virginia Football Player's of the Year in the year
1994. Parade magazine named him to their annual All-American high school
football team in 1995. in 2009, he was named among the 50 best footballers from
high schools ever.
