Susan Sarandon Bio
It was after the 1968 Democratic convention and there was a casting notice for a movie with a variety of roles for young people who had disrupted convention. Joe (1970) was offered a role in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon, an actor who had studied in acting, was not selected. Susan, his wife Susan was given the coveted role in the movie as Susan Compton as the child of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill kills Susan’s drug dealer boyfriend. Then, Joe (Peter Boyle) as a bigot, who works on an assembly line and has a collection of guns, befriends Susan. Five years later, Sarandon plays the role in the movie. Janet is a transvestite who becomes entangled with the mysterious Dr. Frank n Furter (1975). After more than 15 years of having started her career, Sarandon at last actively campaigned for a role that was a hit, Annie in Bull Durham (1988), traveling at her own expense from Rome from Rome to Los Angeles. "It was a fantastic script... It was able to do remove a number of mythsand challenged American notions of what success is," she stated. "When I arrived at the studio I had a chat with Kevin Costner, kissed some ass at the studio and returned to the plane". The romance she had with Bull Durham (1988)) acting partner, Tim Robbins, had given birth to two sons in 1992, and placed Sarandon in the position of having to leave her home and stepping into roles that challenged her. It was the result four Academy Award nominations in 1990s and the best actress award for Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980) was her first Academy Award nomination.
